Landowner Compact Ranch Rules
The Arizona Game and Fish Department has an agreement with the Hopi Tribe to allow recreational access to Hopi Trust Lands in Game Management Units 4A, 5A and 5B. This includes the Aja Ranch (Unit 4A), the Clear Creek Ranch (Unit 5A) and the Hart Ranch (Unit 5B), collectively known as the Hopi Three Canyon Ranch. While on this Ranch, recreational users must have written permission for access, valid for 30 days at a time. Written permission may be obtained by clicking the access pass link and completing the form prior to arrival or by scanning the QR code on the signs at all approved access points. Once the form is complete an email will be sent to you, granting written permission. A copy of your email with your access pass is required to be on your person or vehicle while on Hopi Three Canyon Ranch.

All persons must follow the ranch rules as well as all applicable state laws and regulations. These rules apply to hunting and recreation on all Hopi Trust Lands and State Trust Lands on the Hopi Three Canyon Ranch. Violation of ranch rules or applicable state laws or regulations may result in loss of access privileges.
- Drive on existing roads only. Do not litter.
- Leave gates as they are found unless there is a close gate tag attached.
- Do not shoot within ¼ mile of occupied structures.
- Minimize livestock disturbance.
- Respect Hopi Tribal property rights. No cross-country travel is permitted on either Hopi Trust Lands or State Trust Lands; this includes retrieval of game and for wood gathering.
- Cutting/ harvesting dead and down wood on the Ranch is permitted for campfire use only.
- All hunters and everyone in their party must have written permission, granted for 30 days at a time.
- All AZGFD state certified/ licensed outfitters and guides who conduct business (guide, pre-scout, or request access on behalf of their clients) shall contact the Office of Revenue Commission at 928 734-3172 to obtain an annual Hopi Tribal Business License. Upon approval of a Hopi Tribal Business License, written permission may be obtained.
- Access to the top of East Sunset Mountain is restricted to non-motorized travel only and is closed half way. (Limited parking is available) Do not block access to water sources for livestock.
Authorized camping
Camping is only allowed in a designated area of the Clear Creek Ranch (Unit 5A). This area is located on the west side of Highway 87 between East and West Sunset Mountain at milepost 325.5. The Clear Creek Ranch designated camp area is located within Hopi Trust Lands and this privilege can be revoked at any time.
Camping rules
- The ½ mile long camping area is signed on both sides and provides 15 designated sites.
- If the camping area is full, additional camping opportunities are available on the Coconino National Forest, south of mile-post 317 on Highway 87.
- Do not leave campfires unattended. Pack out all trash.
Failure to comply with Hopi Three Canyon Ranch Rules could result in prosecution and loss of access privileges.
