NEWS RELEASE
Nov. 19, 2024
For hunters planning to apply for hunt permit-tags issued through the upcoming 2025 pronghorn and elk draw, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) offers the following tips to make the process go smoothly:
- “Arizona E-Tag.” Download this mobile app from either the Apple or Google Play stores, and opt in to receive an electronic permit-tag in your AZGFD portal account (this is not an option selected through the draw). Be sure to update to the most recent version of the app, which is compatible with both Apple and android products. The Arizona E-Tag app provides real-time delivery of licenses and big game tags purchased or drawn after the app has been downloaded. It also provides the ability to electronically tag a harvested animal and complete the hunter questionnaire. Visit www.azgfd.gov/etag.
- Auto-renewal for hunting and fishing licenses. This is a good time for customers to check the status of their auto-renewal for hunting and fishing licenses, as well as confirm they are fully enrolled. License holders are offered an opportunity to enroll in a process that automatically renews licenses upon expiration. Customers must have an AZGFD portal account to enroll in license auto-renewal.
In the meantime, AZGFD is asking hunters to continue doing their part to help keep Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) at bay. CWD is a fatal wildlife disease that affects the nervous system of deer and elk.
All successful deer and elk hunters this season are encouraged to bring the head of their harvested animal — especially bucks and bulls — to any department office statewide between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. NOTE: The department requires hunters to call in advance before delivering a head for sampling.
